It just came to my attention that this blog has been nominated for “Best Torah Blog” on theJIB Awards Site(Group C).
I am honored to have been nominated, especially in view of the fact that my communal obligations have prevented me from posting on a regular basis for the past couple of months.
Of course, I plan to resume my every-other-day posting schedule as soon as I possibly can.
Thank you to my readership for your kind support.
I wrote a comment this morning. It posted and then disappeared!
Very well put! It explains why Eino domeh me’ah peamim lemeah ve’echad as ievery review should bring a new insight.
In Yeshivot they consider the Bekiut shiur as Hazarah. We used to run through the massechta several times but it was just skimming and did not bring anything to the table. It may be time to review the system and reform it.
David, I still see your comment on the most recent post…I saw it this morning and responded with my own comment.
But I was surprised that I didn’t receive any notification via email, and it is interesting that it doesn’t come up on your computer. I will wait and see.
i would have nominated you for best skeptic blog.
LF, what a coincidence that you chose to comment today! I just made a mental note to myself about half an hour ago to check up on your blog this evening.
How about “best skeptic-friendly blog” instead.
Truth be told, in the skeptic category my vote went to Orthoprax.
Yes, well, I’ve been quite lately. a combination of your topics being a little too frum for my tastes and a general lack of time for blogging due to real life commitments. That’s also hindered my ability to post over on my blog. That, and since I have essentialy moved from “questioning” “searching” phases to being more confident in my views, the discussion is less necesary for me.
a combination of your topics being a little too frum for my tastes
First of all, I object to this characterization of the content. I don’t think my approach is conventionally “frum”.
And in any case, this is supposed to be a blog about Torah topics, so what did you expect?
Provide me with some tantalizing DH material and, you never know, I might develop a post out of it like I did for Vayehi.
I do plan to blog on something new soon that I think might grab your attention.
Meanwhile, I am curious about your statement that you have become more confident in your views. Which views are you referring to? Where are you holding theologically at this point?
Was the purpose of your participation in the comment threads related to clarifying your own beliefs and ideas?

Yes. And to have some fun and meet like minded people. I never had any intention to convince others.

At this point, I am what is coloquely called a confirmed skeptic. I basically have no belief whatsoever in TMS, or only a negligible amount of belief. On the same order of magnitude as my belief in the virgin birth and other such things.
